About us

The Munich Contemporary Art Galleries Initiative is an association of Munich galleries with a focus on contemporary art. The initiative was founded in 1988 with the aim of promoting current and future-oriented trends in art.

REPRESENTATION OF INTERESTS

As an association, it is our goal to represent the interests of the galleries vis-à-vis the public and the press, as well as municipal, state and private cultural sponsors. We also see ourselves as a communicative and organizational contact point for our members.
Our members are characterized by professional gallery activities according to the guidelines drawn up by the European gallery association F.E.A.G.A..

ORGANIZATION OF ART EVENTS

Together with numerous partner institutions and museums, we organize events such as the annual Open Art event. The Open Art is the oldest ‚art weekend‘ of any gallery association in Germany. We have also initiated and supported other successful formats such as NightArt and Plateau Munich.

Public Relations work

We release news of exhibitions and events at our galleries to the Munich public via our website and bi-monthly flyer.
